Alvina F. Strachota, 97, Stratford, died on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 under the loving care of the staff at A Touch of Home Assisted Living, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethamanickam officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Village of Stratford. The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. St. Joseph’s Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alvina was born on May 15, 1919 in Stratford, to Joseph and Anastasia (Knoll) Schwabe and attended MacArthur Grade School in Little Rose. She was united in marriage to Walter F. Strachota on August 26, 1939 in Stratford. He died on Sept. 17, 1965.

Alvina had been employed for over 30 years in the Dietary Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield until her retirement. She enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, cooking, traveling and winning at the casino. She also enjoyed taking long walks in the neighborhood and talking with the neighbors. Most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her children, Shirley (Bill) Graham of Bloomington, MN, Kathie (Jerry) Boyance of Marshfield, Jeanne Granius of Green Bay, Jim (LuAnn) Strachota of Richfield, MN, Tom Strachota of Stratford and Jeff (Mary Anne) Strachota of Pewaukee. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Joe (Mary) Schwabe of Stratford, sisters-in-law, Joanne Schwabe, Adeline Schwabe and Diane Strachota and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Peter, a grandson, Joshua Strachota, brothers, Frank, George, Walter, Harry and Lawrence and sisters, Rose, Veronica and Theresa and a son-in-law, Jack Graham.

Memorials may be designated in Alvina’s name to St. Joseph’s Parochial School, Stratford.
