John C. Hoefs

John C. Hoefs, 74, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, at North Central Health Care Center in Wausau.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Center City Church with Pastor Patrick Bousum officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

John Charles Hoefs was born on Jan. 26, 1942, in the Township of Day, Marathon County, to Charles and Alma Hoefs. He attended Stratford Schools. He was employed at Hennig Manufacturing Co., Northern Stars and Marshfield Homes. John met the love of his life, Lorraine at Schmidt’s Ballroom. He loved polka music and always looked forward to Saturday nights. John was united in marriage to Lorraine G. Krueger on Nov.  4, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church parsonage in Rib Falls.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine, and their children, Sherrie Hoefs of Marshfield, Debbie Hoefs of Johnson Creek, Lori Hoefs of Marshfield and a son Donald Hoefs of Athens. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is further survived by 3 sisters, Ione (Wilmer) Landwehr of Stratford, Edna Landwehr of Stratford and Diane (Leon) Lueddecke of Unity, and a brother, Alfred Hoefs of Stratford. He will truly be missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Allen Hoefs and a sister, Ruth Correll.

The family would like to thank the staff at North Central Health Care for taking such good care of John.
