Cathleen “Cathy” J. Wingert
Cathleen “Cathy” J. Wingert, 57, Marshfield, went in peace on Friday, November 3, 2017 surrounded by her family at her home.
Cathy was born on March 6, 1960 in Marshfield, WI to Lynn and Jane (Rickman) Winch. She was united in marriage to Patrick C. Wingert on February 4, 1984 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield.
Cathy was fond of the various positions she held professionally in her career, including, Martin Dental Office, Marshfield Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI), the Marshfield Wastewater Treatment Plant, and lastly as an Administrative Secretary and Human Resources Coordinator throughout her tenure with the School District of Marshfield. She strongly admired and valued the people she worked along side of, especially those who not only provided mentorship, but more importantly, close friendship.
Cathy enjoyed entertaining, especially when it meant spending more time with her family and friends. No words can describe the profound love she had for children. Her face would light up with joy at the mere mention of a child. She relished the simpler things in life and took pride in being thoroughly involved in her family’s sporting events, programs and performances. She was always more concerned about the well being of others, exhibiting kindness and love always.
She was a passionate supporter of cancer research and found strength and purpose in guiding others. In addition to mentoring other cancer patients, she proudly served on an advisory board with doctors and researchers. She was greatly involved in many fundraisers and events, by both hosting and volunteering to help raise awareness for the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
Cathy is lovingly survived by her husband Pat and their three children, Brianah (Chris) Laughnan of Morrisonville, WI, Ross Wingert of Oxford, MI and Raelynn Wingert of Green Bay, WI. Cathy also has three grandchildren who loved her bigger than the ocean, Isabelle, Mason and Carson. Known as “Sister Cate”, she will be greatly missed by her brothers and sister, Laura Winch (Tom Vokal) of Washington, MI, Greg (Kathy) Winch of Phoenix, AZ, Scott (Jaki) Winch of Stratford, WI, Patrick (Karyl) Winch, Michael (Sandy) Winch and Timothy Winch, all of Marshfield, WI. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michele (Dennis) Gorke, Mary (Wayne) Schulz, both of Marshfield, WI, Susan Thomas of Chicago, IL, John (Marisa) Wingert of Appleton, WI, James (Jamie) Wingert of East Troy, WI, and Jeff (Trisha) Wingert of Fitchburg, WI. She is further survived by her stepfather, Chris Hernandez and her step father-in-law, William Rifleman. Cathy was also a dear aunt to so many and always found small and unexpected ways to make each and every one of them feel special and important in their own way.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Jane, her father-in-law, Michael Wingert, her mother-in-law, Joanne Wingert Rifleman, and her brother-in-law, Ronnie Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating and Cathy’s son and her five brothers serving as pallbearers. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Rembs Funeral Home and also from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Wednesday prior to the mass at Our Lady of Peace Church.
In continuing Cathy’s legacy and supporting her last great lesson, in lieu of flowers memorials will be passed along to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, directly benefiting Dr. Dusty Deming’s research efforts. (Cathy Wingert Colorectal Cancer Research Fund)
