Edna L. Koplitz, age 97, formerly of Withee, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Colby Retirement Community with her family by her side under the tender care of the staff and hospice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the United Church of Christ (107 S. Oak Street 54460) in Owen.   Rev. Asafa Rajaofera will officiate.  Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Edna was born July 28, 1921, the daughter of Jay and Olive Bogue in Withee. She graduated from Withee High School in 1939.  Edna was united in marriage to Harold Koplitz on August 29, 1940 at “The Little Brown Church in the Vale” in Nashua, Iowa.  They lived in Stanley for one year and then moved to the Owen area and farmed. The family was forced to relocate to the Curtiss farm, due to Highway 29 new construction.  She also worked at Central Livestock in Owen and was financial secretary for Packaging Corporation in America in Colby.  Edna moved to Abbotsford in 1973 after her husband’s death.  The past three years she has lived at the Colby Retirement Community.

Edna enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb.  She loved to travel and took many bus tours with friends and her daughter, Sheila.  Edna also loved to go shopping with her son, Marvin, and her daughter.  She was a member of the United Church of Christ and sang in the choir for many years.  Edna was a member of Homemakers.  She loved to crochet and put puzzles together.  Edna also was fond of her cats.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Sheila Koplitz of Green Bay; two grandchildren: Terry (Shannon) Koplitz of Appleton and Linda Koplitz of Schofield; three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Lauren and Brady. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy (Dick) Bunkelman of Wausau; a sister-in-law, Peggy Koplitz of Greeley, CO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her son, Marvin; her grandson, Scott; her brother, Harold Bogue and two sisters, Leota Gerber and Cecil Hodd.

The family wishes to thank all private caregivers who assisted Edna in her home and the loving staff at the Colby Retirement Community for their exceptional care.
