Inmate found dead at Marathon County Jail

WAUSAU – A 56-year-old woman was found dead in a receiving cell at the Marathon County Jail.
Sheriff Scott Parks said that corrections officers found the woman on Oct. 2 at approximately 3 p.m., while conducting a routine cell check.
Officers attempted live-saving measures and Wausau Fire and Rescue were on the scene shortly after 3 p.m. They were not able to revive the woman
The inmate had been booked into the jail shortly before on a probation violation hold and suspicion of fifth offense OWI. The investigation is ongoing.
An autopsy is being performed.
