Assumption hands Auburndale baseball its first loss

Apaches held to one hit in home loss

AUBURNDALE — Wisconsin Rapids Assumption plated eight runs over the first three innings and held on from there, beating Auburndale 9-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
The game was the Marawood South opener for both teams.
The Apaches (2-1 overall) were held to one hit in the loss, a double by Aaron Willfahrt. Assumption (3-1) pitchers struck out nine Auburndale batters.
Cam Ertl took the loss for Auburndale. He gave up eight runs, five of which were earned, in 2 1/3 innings. Colton Wright allowed just one run in 4 2/3 innings of relief.
Auburndale plays at Pittsville on Friday.
