Marshfield girls swim team loses home opener

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls swim team opened its home and dual meet schedule with a 106-64 nonconference loss to Onalaska/Holmen/Aquinas on Thursday at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.

Marshfield won one of the 11 events as Elizabeth Holbrook took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.09. She also finished second in the 200 IM (2:34.17).

Sarah Claessens was second in the 50 freestyle (27.57) and 100 butterfly (1:11.96), and freshman Sophie Koehn took second in the 100 free (1:00.44) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.74).

Erika Roeglin (50), April Read (100 backstroke) and Grace Hilbelink (100 breaststroke) won events for the Marshfield JV.

Marshfield will compete at the Rhinelander Invitational on Saturday and has another home meet Monday against La Crosse Logan.
