Columbus Catholic soccer blanks Wausau Newman Catholic

MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic dominated defensively from start to finish and whipped Wausau Newman Catholic 4-0 in a Mid-State Soccer Conference matchup Monday at Griese Park.
The Dons now stand as the lone undefeated team in the conference with the victory, improving to 4-0 in the Mid-State (6-1-2 overall). Newman falls to 2-1 overall and in the conference.
Columbus Catholic held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks and outshot the Cardinals 17-8.
Matt Olson scored twice, Nick Malovrh added a goal, Sean McCarthy had a goal and an assist, and Alexandra Hutchison also had an assist for the Dons.
Evan Hansen had eight saves in goal for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic plays at Stevens Point Pacelli at 5 p.m. Friday at the Portage County Soccer Complex. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday.
