No. 3 doubles team of Boson and Kruger win title for Marshfield at Wisconsin Valley Conference boys tennis meet

Tigers end up fourth in overall team standings

WAUSAU — Marshfield’s No. 3 doubles team of Tanner Boson and Tom Kruger were crowned conference champions after winning a three-set match on Thursday at the 2015 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Tennis Meet at Wausau East and Wausau West high schools.

Boson and Kruger defeated William Le and Spencer Fritsche of Wausau West 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to win the No. 3 doubles title for the Tigers.

Marshfield tied Wausau East for third place at the tournament with 17 points and finished fourth in the overall conference standings with 51 points.

Stevens Point won the team title with 91 points with Wausau West second with 76. Point beat West 31-30 in the tournament standings on Thursday.

Marshfield’s top singles player, Bryce Gadke, finished second after losing the championship match to Sean Bailey of Wausau West 6-2, 6-0.

Jacob Limmex at No. 2 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Austin Christianson and Jared Draxler finished fourth for the Tigers.

Marshfield will take part in the WIAA Division 1 subsectional at Stevens Point on Tuesday.

Team standings: 1. Stevens Point 31; 2. Wausau West 30; 3. Marshfield and Wausau East 17; 5. Wisconsin Rapids 14; 6. D.C. Everest 3.

Final overall team standings (combining points from dual meet season): 1. Stevens Point 91; 2. Wausau West 76; 3. Wausau East 53; 4. Marshfield 51; 5. Wisconsin Rapids 44; 6. D.C. Everest 7.

No. 1 Singles

Championship: Sean Bailey (WW) def. Bryce Gadke (MAR), 6-2, 6-0.
Third place: Dane Steidl (WR) def. Blaine Bancker (SP), 6-2, 6-2.
Fifth place: Matt LaViolette (WE) def. Meng Yang (DC), 6-4, 6-1.

No. 2 Singles

Championship: Jon Peck (SP) def. David Seamon (WW), 6-0, 6-2.
Third place: Sawyer Schlindwein (WE) def. Jacob Limmex (MAR), 1-6, 7-5, (10-7).
Fifth place: Zach Gilmaster (WR) def. Isaac Vanderwaal (DC), 6-1, 6-0.

No. 3 Singles

Championship: Skyler Colegrove (SP) def. Tanner Frahm (WE), 6-4, 7-6, (11-9).
Third place: Tyler Wolosek (WR) def. David Richetto (WW), 6-2, 6-3.
Fifth place: John Weisenberger (MAR) def. Preston Pagel (DC), 6-0, 6-0.

No. 4 Singles

Championship: Jon Richetto (WW) def. Adam Schneider (WE), 6-3, 4-6 (10-4).
Third place: Ryan Graczkowski (WR) def. Thomas Hardy (SP), 6-7 (4), 6-4, (10-8).
Fifth place: Justin Twardowski (MAR) def. Ben Arndt (DC), 6-0, 6-0.

No. 1 Doubles

Championship: Noah Meier-Trenton Seegert (SP) def. Ben Reich-Ben Nichols (WW), 6-2, 6-2.
Third place: Cameron Kissinger-Mitch Hruska (DC) def. Dakota Osborn-Keacha Chang (WE), 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Fifth place: Sam Trudeau-Dylan Handrich (MAR) def. Josh Beyer-Lucas Kreuser (WR), 6-3, 7-5.

No. 2 Doubles

Championship: M.J. Debot-Adam Wentzel (SP) def. Cody Achatz-Kris Reich (WW), 7-6 (5), 6-3.
Third place: Sam O’Shasky-Shane Glinski (WR) def. Austin Christianson-Jared Draxler (MAR), 6-1, 6-2.
Fifth Place: Sam Klug-Isaac Stine (WE) def. Eric Wasleske-Keng Yang (DC) 7-5, 6-1.

No. 3 Doubles

Championship: Tanner Boson-Tom Kruger (MAR) def. William Le-Spencer Fritsche (WW) 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Third place: Patrick Heff eran-Ivan Arce (SP) def. Shia Vang-Miles Stiffl er (WE), 6-2, 6-4.
Fifth place: Luke Mertes-Marcus Bean (WR) def. Eli Lee-Tyler Neill (DC), 6-1, 6-0.
