Marshfield girls tennis finishes 2-1 at home quadrangular

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls tennis team lost its first match but came back strong to win the next two and finished 2-1 at the Marshfield Quadrangular on Tuesday at the Boson Tennis Complex.

La Crosse Central knocked off the Tigers 5-2 before Marshfield edged D.C. Everest and Menomonie by 4-3 scores.

The Marshfield doubles teams went 6-3 to lift the Tigers to their winning day.

Olivia Haessly and Emily Serchen teamed to win at No. 2 doubles against La Crosse Central. Haessly and Krishna Patel then won at No. 2 against Everest and Menomonie. Patel and Autumn Packard won at No. 3 against Central as both Haessly and Patel went undefeated.

The Tigers’ No. 1 doubles team of Martha Kupfer and Jenny Madden finished 2-1, winning in straight sets against Everest and Menomonie.

Marshfield returns to action Sept. 4 against Wausau West in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the Boson Tennis Complex.
