Spencer teen killed near UP in northeast Wisconsin

FLORENCE – An 18-year-old male from Spencer was killed when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Florence County Sheriff Dan Miller reports that on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 2:02 p.m., his department’s dispatch center received several 911 calls regarding a two-vehicle accident on US Highway 2 near Westrin Rd. in the Town of Florence.
Numerous Rescue and Fire units responded to the scene. Deputies found that an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle in a head-on type crash.
The eastbound vehicle was occupied only by the driver, an 18-year-old male from Spencer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The westbound vehicle was occupied by two males; one from Crystal Falls, MI, and one from Magnolia, TX. Both were transported to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, MI, and were reported to be in serious condition. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
Assisting at the scene was the Florence Fire Department, Florence Rescue Squad, Integrity Paramedics, Florence County Highway Department, and the Florence County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
