TOWN OF MARSHFIELD — A 66-year-old Pittsville man is dead after his motorcycle struck a sign on Highway 10 near Day Road in the town of Marshfield on Tuesday night. Wood County deputies responded to the call at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, according to a release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, and pronounced Wayne A. Dietz dead at the scene of the crash.

The release said Dietz entered the shoulder of the highway while traveling east and then lost control and struck the sign. Dietz was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
