Dons move to 5-1 in Cloverbelt East

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

GILMAN — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team won a hard-fought, five-set match over winless Gilman on Tuesday night at Gilman High School.

The Dons held on to win 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 24-26, 15-10 to improve to 5-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Gilman drops to 0-6.

The victory keeps Columbus’ hopes alive for a share of the conference championship. The Dons host Loyal on Thursday in their conference finale as they are half a game behind first-place Spencer. Spencer is at Owen-Withee on Thursday and finishes its conference schedule Monday at Greenwood.

Kendra Baierl had 26 kills and seven digs, Celine Scholin added 16 kills, and Brooke Neider and Maren Seefluth each had nine digs for Columbus. Jennifer Reigel had 22 assists, and Natalie Pospyhalla had 20 for the Dons.
