Estrict lifts UW-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball past UW-Baraboo

Marauders now 5-8, 4-3 in WCC West

MARSHFIELD — Joe Estrict scored 32 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team to a 71-47 win over UW-Baraboo on Monday night at the Marauder Gym.

Estrict made 13 of 16 shots from the field and was 6-for-8 from the free throw line for the Marauders, who are now 5-8 overall and 4-3 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference West Division.

Marshfield shot 52 percent (29 of 56) from the field as it survived despite turning the ball over 31 times. Baraboo (2-13, 0-8 WCC West) shot just 19 percent (15 of 79) and made only 11 of 29 free throws.

Josh Hennes added 16 points, and Devin Klein chipped in with 12 for the Marauders, who led by just one at halftime before pulling away with a 44-21 second-half advantage.

UW-Marshfield hosts UW-Marathon County for a women’s-men’s doubleheader on Wednesday. The women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
