Colby edges Spencer girls basketball

Rockets fall to 1-4 in last five games

COLBY — The Spencer girls basketball team lost for the fourth time in its last five games, falling to Colby 44-42 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Thursday night at Colby High School.

Colby led 28-20 at halftime before the Rockets stormed back but came up a bucket short.

Spencer (6-7, 5-5 Cloverbelt East) held a 12-5 advantage on free throws made but missed 11 attempts at the line. Colby outrebounded the Rockets 46-29.

Samantha Hayes led Colby (7-7, 7-3 Cloverbelt East) with 12 points.

Sydney Kind had 12 points for Spencer but was held to 3 of 15 shooting. Nadia King added eight points.

Spencer hosts Granton on Thursday.
