Upcoming offerings from Marshfield Parks & Recreation

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department will be offering the following:

—Youth tennis lessons begin the week of Jan. 12 and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes will be held for six weeks at the indoor tennis court in City Hall Plaza. The cost is $29 for city residents and $43.50 for nonresidents.

—A youth hitting clinic for middle school and high school tennis players will be held Mondays, Jan. 18 – Feb. 22, at the indoor tennis court in City Hall Plaza. The cost is $50 for city residents and $68 for nonresidents.

—A youth volleyball clinic for boys and girls in fifth and sixth grades will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 26 – Feb. 23 (no class Feb. 16), at the Oak Avenue Community Center, 201 S. Oak Ave. The cost is $25 for city residents and $37.50 for nonresidents.

—Open Gym & Swim at the Marshfield High School pool and fieldhouse is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The pool is open from 5:45-8 p.m. and the fieldhouse from 7:15-9 p.m. Youth under the age of 18 are free, and adults are $2.50 for city residents, $3.75 for nonresidents.

—Pickleball is being held on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the Oak Avenue Community Center. Advance tickets at a discounted rate can be purchased in the Parks & Recreation office. A block of 10 tickets costs $22. The drop-in rate is $2.50.

—Adult exercise classes are being held at the Marshfield Mall in the Senior Center on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-10 a.m. The fee is $3 per class, or a flex card can be purchased for $42 for 16 classes or $24 for 8 classes. The classes focus on improving joint mobility, muscle strength, and endurance.

—Tai chi classes at the Marshfield Mall are being held in the Senior Center. They are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:15-11:15 a.m. The fee is $3.00 per class, or a flex card can be purchased for $42 for 16 classes or $24 for 8 classes. The classes focus on strengthening the body with minimal stress to the joints and on improving coordination and relaxation.
