Wednesday, Aug. 12
Woman’s car keyed
A 27-year-old Marshfield woman reported that someone put a nearly 3-foot scratch on the trunk of her car while it was parked in a lot on the 1600 block of N. Central Ave. between 2 and 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. The woman suspected that a 23-year-old Marshfield woman scratched the vehicle.
Surveillance video indicated the 23-year-old was the likely suspect. Investigation will continue.
Thursday, Aug. 13
Sweatshirt stolen at Central Avenue bar
A 56-year-old Marshfield woman reported that someone took her sweatshirt while at a bar on the 500 block of S. Central Ave. on Aug. 4. The woman was unsure if she forgot the sweatshirt and someone took it later or if someone took it while she was there without her noticing it.
There are no suspects at this time. Police contacted the bar, and the owner will check surveillance video for suspects.
21-year-old taken into custody for physical assault of a child
Officers responded at 9:55 a.m. to the report of a physical altercation on the 500 block of S. Peach Ave. Upon arrival it was learned that a physical altercation took place between a 21-year-old woman and her juvenile sibling.
The woman was taken into custody for physical assault of a child and transported to Wood County Jail. Charges will be requested through the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Marshfield police assist Taylor County Sheriff’s Department
At 3 p.m. a Taylor County sheriff’s deputy requested Marshfield officers contact a 23-year-old Marshfield woman who was potentially in possession of stolen property. Marshfield officers made contact with the woman and were allowed to search the residence but did not locate any of the property. Marshfield police will forward their report to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.
Friday, Aug. 14
Wisconsin Rapids woman cited for drug paraphernalia possession
An officer stopped a vehicle for a defective stop lamp and a cracked windshield at 1:50 a.m. While making contact with a 57-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman, another officer observed the top of a Jack Daniels bottle partially concealed on the passenger side floorboard.
The woman handed the bottle to the first officer and claimed that it was only juice. However, when the officer smelled the liquid, it smelled of alcohol. The woman admitted that there might be alcohol in the bottle.
Officers then located grapefruit-flavored beer, which was the same color as the liquid in the Jack Daniels bottle, as well as an open, partially full bottle of Ice House beer.
While searching the vehicle for other open intoxicants, an officer located a multicolored glass pipe with burnt residue inside of it. The woman denied that it was used for marijuana, but when the officer field tested the residue, it tested positive for THC.
The officer then verified the woman’s information with dispatch and issued her a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Marshfield man arrested for role in physical altercation
Police responded at 11:18 p.m. to a report of a fight on the 600 block of Laurel Court. A 28-year-old Marshfield man was ultimately arrested due to his actions and was released after booking procedures were completed. A charge of disorderly conduct will be requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Officer spots man with active warrant while on patrol
While on routine patrol an officer recognized a man he knew to have an active probation warrant near the intersection of Arnold Street and Pine Avenue. The man was interviewed about a previous incident and then arrested and transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. After booking he was transferred to Wood County Jail and released to jail staff.
Saturday, Aug. 15
Man arrested on Probation and Parole warrant
Police arrested a 28-year-old Marshfield man on the 300 block of W. Third St. at 1:50 a.m. for a valid Probation and Parole warrant. Officers brought the man to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then to Wood County Jail.
Marshfield man exposes buttocks, spits on officer
Police responded at 2:36 a.m. to a report that a man exposed his buttocks to the operator of a vehicle on the 400 block of S. Central Ave. Police made contact with a 24-year-old Marshfield man that matched the given description.
As a citation was being generated, the man became uncooperative with officers. He repeatedly approached officers in a threatening manner, and police placed him in handcuffs. The man then continued to resist by pulling himself away and attempting to kick officers. While the man was escorted to a squad car, he expelled saliva at an officer’s face.
Police transported the man to the Marshfield Police Department, and he would not answer any booking questions. He was then transported to Wood County Jail, and charges will be sought with the Wood County DA.
Sunday, Aug. 16
Two females reported pouring substance into gas tank
Police received a report that two female subjects were involved in placing substances into a 50-year-old Marshfield woman’s vehicle’s gas tank on Aug. 15.
Police contacted a 28-year-old Marshfield woman who stated that she was present during the incident but that she did not put the substance into the gas tank. She stated that a 23-year-old Marshfield woman was with her and did the pouring.
When contacted the 23-year-old denied any involvement with the incident.
Police also contacted the 50-year-old and advised her of the incident. She stated her vehicle had not been damaged as of yet due to the substance. Investigation will continue.
Camping equipment stolen from Chestnut Avenue garage
A 50-year-old Marshfield man reported that he found his garage open with numerous camping items missing on the 1700 block of N. Chestnut Ave. The garage was locked at 5 a.m. the previous day, and when he went to retrieve the supplies at 1:56 p.m. on Aug. 16, he noticed them missing.
The man had no idea who might have taken the items, which included two tents, a propane grill and tank, and an air mattress.
Glass door, windows broken at office
A property manager reported that he noticed some of the windows and the glass door at his office on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. were broken some time between 3 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 16. While investigating, numerous rocks were found inside the building that matched the size of the holes in the glass.
The property manager had no leads as to who would have caused the damage. Pictures were taken of the damage.
Vehicle’s rear window broken on 17th Street
A 38-year-old Marshfield woman reported that some time between 12:45 a.m. and 2:34 p.m.
the rear window of her vehicle was broken while it was in a parking lot on the 700 block of W. 17th St. The woman had no leads as to who might have caused the damage. Police took pictures of the damage.
Man arrested for battery, disorderly conduct charges
Police arrested a 21-year-old Marshfield man on the 600 block of E. 21st St. for charges of domestic-related battery and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked and later released after posting the required bond amount.
Monday, Aug. 17
Cash, debit card stolen from vehicle on Peach Avenue
A 30-year-old Marshfield man reported an unknown person took a $20 bill and a debit card from his vehicle without consent at 5:30 p.m. while on the 1400 block of N. Peach Ave. The man said that he had left the items on the passenger side dash and that the passenger side window was rolled down. The man also stated that he and his wife left the vehicle unattended for only a matter of minutes to carry in groceries, which was when someone took the items.
There are no suspects at this time due to the high volume of neighbors and the amount of foot traffic that travels through the area. Police advised the man to cancel his debit card and have a new one issued immediately.
Marshfield man arrested on Wood County warrant
Police arrested an 18-year-old Marshfield man for a valid Wood County warrant following a traffic stop on the 1100 block of S. Cedar Ave. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. He posted the $493 bond and was released.
Tuesday, Aug. 18
18-year-old arrested on probation hold, cited for underage drinking
Police took an 18-year-old Marshfield woman into custody at 10:54 a.m. on a valid Probation and Parole hold on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. The woman was taken to the Marshfield Police Department, where she was booked, and then to Wood County Jail. She was also cited for underage alcohol consumption.
Wisconsin Rapids woman arrested, cited for second OWI
Police were dispatched to the area of Wildwood Park at 12:41 p.m. for a possible intoxicated driver. A witness saw a 57-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman using illegal drugs and drinking alcohol from a bottle. The last known direction was westbound on Peach Avenue.
An officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of Peach Avenue and Ives Street after seeing it stop abruptly and noticing it had a cracked windshield. The officer made contact with the driver, smelled the odor of intoxicants, and saw open intoxicants in the vehicle.
The woman performed standardized field sobriety tests. She said she had a hard time balancing due to medications she takes.
She also said she was not drinking. Police administered a preliminary breath test, and she registered a reading of 0.069.
Due to the results of the field sobriety tests, the woman was placed under arrest and cited for operating while under the influence, second offense. She was read the informing the accused verbatim, and she consented to a legal blood draw. A blood draw was conducted and later mailed. The woman was given copies of her citation and the informing the accused form.
Woman taken into custody for Clark County warrant
At 8:43 p.m. police took a 29-year-old Marshfield woman into custody for a valid Clark County warrant on the 200 block of S. Central Ave. The woman was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to a Clark County Deputy.
Wednesday, Aug. 19
Marshfield police assist Marathon County Sheriff’s Department
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department requested Marshfield officers look for a 57-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman who had just stolen a vehicle and was believed to be traveling to Marshfield at 12:32 a.m.
Officers located the woman and the stolen vehicle as she was attempting to pick up her other vehicle on the 500 block of E. Ives St. The woman was turned over to Marathon County deputies, and the car was returned to its owner.
