Hutchison wins two events for Columbus Catholic at Pittsville Track Invitational

PITTSVILLE — Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Alexandra Hutchison won the 100 meters and the 300-meter hurdle events at the Pittsville Track & Field Invitational on Thursday at Pittsville High School.

Hutchison won the 100 in 12.58 seconds and took first in the 300 hurdles in 25.50 seconds for the Dons, who finished sixth in the girls team standings. Hutchison, Rachel Roehl, Hannah Stratman, and Phoebe Atkinson also won the 400 relay in 53.63.

Wausau Newman Catholic won both the girls and boys team titles.

The Spencer girls tied for second, Auburndale was fifth, and a limited Stratford squad finished eighth.

On the boys side, Columbus Catholic was third, Auburndale seventh, Spencer eighth, and, again, a limited Stratford squad tied for ninth.

Katie Leick (5:58.83) edged teammate Kali Karl (6:00.86) to win the 1,600 for the Auburndale girls’ lone win.

Spencer’s only win came from the 400 thrower’s relay team (59.92), and Stratford’s Johnelle Miner had the only win for the Tigers, taking first in the 3,200 in 12:57.13.

The Spencer boys 400 thrower’s relay team also won (50.71), and J.T. Huebl was second in the 400 (54.93) for the Rockets.

Christian Payant had the Columbus Catholic boys’ only win, taking first in the 300 hurdles in 41.77 seconds. Farid Torbey tied for second in the high jump (5-10), and Evan Nikolai was second in the triple jump (36-6 ¾) for the Dons.

Lee Jepsen and Matt Lang each had a second- and third-place finish for Auburndale.

Jepsen was second in the 200 (23.45) and third in the 100 (11:47), and Lang was second in the shot put (46-4) and third in the discus (127-10).
