MARSHFIELD — D.C. Everest scored three unanswered goals in a span of just over seven minutes to pull past Marshfield 4-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday at Griese Park.

Marshfield’s Julia Urban scored on a free kick to tie the game 1-1 27:47 into the first half.

However, the Tigers would not score again, and D.C. Everest piled up three goals before halftime to improve to 7-1-2 overall and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield is now 3-6 and 1-4 in the Valley.

Neither team scored in the second half.

“The experience of Everest and our 8-minute lapse was the difference, but overall we as coaches were extremely proud of the effort and fight we put forth especially in the second half,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “We shut them down and stayed even. It was a fun game to watch, and even in defeat we can build off this game and use this to show we can compete when we play up to our potential.”

Marshfield will take on Pulaski at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sparta at noon as part of the Marshfield Triangular at Griese Park.
