Peggy Sue Makovec, age 65 of Stratford, WI, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, after her 5-year battle with cancer.
Peggy was born on November 19, 1959, in Athens, WI to David and Dorothy Bergman. She grew up in Athens with her sister Connie. Peggy was united in marriage to Gerald Stahnke on May 8, 1976. They had two boys together, David and Jason. They later divorced. Peggy worked at Tombstone Pizza for 15 years. During that time, she met her husband, Thomas Makovec. They were married on September 22, 1984. Tom became a second father to David and Jason and later added Amanda and Dana to the family. For those who know Peggy, she loved horses and her family.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas Makovec; children: David (Lisa) Stahnke, Jason (Candace) Stahnke, Amanda Makovec (David Mirko), Dana Makovec (Robert Rudebush), sister: Connie Bergman (David “Beaner” Lemke); brother Dan (Tracy) Schultze; stepbrother: Darrell Schultze; stepsisters: Hilda and Roberta, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father David Bergman; stepfather: Robert “Buck” Schultze, and mother, Dorothy Schultze.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cleveland Town Hall (214261 County Hwy M, Stratford, WI) on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided.
