Meredith Louise Peterson, 97, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. Services are scheduled for July 11th at Rembs Funeral Home with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and funeral at 11:00. The public is welcome.
Meredith was born on January 20, 1928 to Paul and Irene (Blake) Barkley. Upon graduation from Holy Angels Academy in 1945 she worked as a government employee where she met Delton F. Peterson. They married in 1951 and moved to Marshfield in 1959. During her career she worked as a medical transcriptionist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, as a secretary for a local law firm, and returned to St. Joseph’s as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1990. Meredith was active in Al-Anon in the early 1970s.
In retirement, she and Delton spent winters in Port Aransas, Texas. They also enjoyed summer family gatherings at Lake Forest Resort in Eagle River. Meredith was a devoted Christian who taught home bible studies, was an avid gardener and homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Meredith was preceded in death by Delton, her husband of sixty-four years. She is survived by her sister Genine (Tom) Beigle; children Pamela (Gerald) Rhodes of Clintonville, Paul Peterson of Marshfield, Patricia (Paul) Osowski of Marshfield, and Stephen (Deborah) Peterson of Glenpool, OK; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
