Lois Ann Lorenz-Acheson, a beacon of creativity and adventure, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 69. Born on December 31, 1955, in Appleton, Wisconsin, Lois's life was a tapestry woven with love, art, and a boundless spirit of exploration.
Lois, the beloved wife of Ken Acheson, whom she affectionately called Mr. Kenny, shared a life rich with memories and travels across the United States. Her parents, Marlene (Liebergen) Lorenz and the late Fred Lorenz, welcomed Lois as a New Year's Eve blessing. She grew up surrounded by her siblings, the late Donald Lorenz, Richard Lorenz, Linda (Lorenz) Penno, and the late Janie Lorenz-Cieszynski, in a home filled with warmth and laughter.
A proud graduate of Marshfield Senior High School in Marshfield, Wisconsin, Lois's thirst for knowledge and passion for the arts led her to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Her education became the foundation upon which she built a successful career in visual design at Nordstrom's, where her influence can still be seen in the elegant displays that grace their stores.
Lois's life was a testament to the famous words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." True to this sentiment, Lois approached each day with a sense of wonder and a desire to discover the beauty in the world around her. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and her enthusiasm for the game was matched only by her love for the open road, exploring the scenic byways of America with Mr. Kenny by her side.
Those who knew Lois will remember her as a woman of great thoughtfulness and creativity. Her adventurous soul was matched by a gentle kindness that touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. She was a friend who listened, a designer who inspired, and a wife whose love knew no bounds.
Lois's legacy will be cherished and kept alive by her devoted husband, Ken Acheson; her mother, Marlene Lorenz; her brother, Richard (Patricia) Lorenz; her sister, Linda (Tim) Penno; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lorenz; her brother, Donald Lorenz; and her sister, Janie Lorenz-Cieszynski.
As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we bid farewell to Lois Ann Lorenz-Acheson, a woman whose presence was a gift to us all. Her journey continues beyond the horizon, where new adventures await. Though we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in our hearts.
