James “Jimbo” Lang was born on August 16, 1940, in Marshfield to John and Regina Lang. He, together with his large family, grew up on the family farm in the township of McMillan. He attended St. John the Baptist School and Columbus Catholic High School. He was united in marriage to Jeanette A. Russ on October 24, 1959. They had three sons, Lyle, Larry, and Lee

As a young man, Jim worked for Rollohome, Marshfield Homes, and Mobile Plywoods. In 1963, he was called to serve in the US Army, stationed at Fort Riley, KS, and eventually served one tour of duty with the 1st Engineer Division in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966.

Following his military service, Jim began his life as an entrepreneur, starting and operating a few small businesses, including the creation of Lang Furniture, Inc. Locally, he may be best remembered for operating his famous “Ring the Dinger” Striker game at the Marshfield Fair, in addition to owning and operating a selection of amusement rides and concessions all over the state of Wisconsin.

Jimbo, a dynamic character, enjoyed many hobbies, including scouting for and collecting antiques, fishing, deer hunting, helping his numerous Amish friends, mowing his lawn, and spending time with his family.

He is also survived by his grandson, Kip (Sarah) Lang of Spencer, and granddaughter, Margo Lang of Madison, as well as two beautiful great- granddaughters, Jazlyn and Addilyn, and his beloved special friend and companion, Debbie Brey. Also surviving are Jim’s three sisters, Janice Hansen, Judy (Dale) Garfield, and Jeanie (Darrell) Paasch, all of Marshfield, as well as many very special nieces, nephews, and in- laws. He is further lovingly survived by a step-granddaughter, Alexandra Meier-Purkapile; Patty’s children and grandchildren; his former daughter-in-law, Nancy Lang, and her son, Kade Dovenbarger.
