Columbus soccer takes second in Waupun

MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic soccer played at the Central Wisconsin Christian Invite in Waupun, Aug. 30-31, where they finished second.
Columbus first faces Menasha St Mary’s Central in game one, ending in a 1-1 tie. The Dons then advanced after a 4-3 shootout.
Wyatt Drexler had five saves for Columbus. The Dons only goal came when St. Mary’s hit one in the Columbus goal.
In the semifinal game Columbus faced Kenosha Christian Life, taking the game 4-1. Scoring for Columbus were: Dylan Porter, assisted by Zach Olson; Zach Olson assisted by Kellen Delaney; Dylan Porter, assisted by Annika Brown; and Delaney, assisted by Porter.
Columbus tied Lake Mills in the final round, 2-2, and lost the shootout 3-2.
Wyatt Drexler had 11 saves. Scoring for Columbus were: Zach Olson, assisted by Sammy Neville, and Tom Nystrom in a penalty kick.
The Columbus Catholic record is 1-0-2 overall. Conference play starts Sept. 3, at home against Amherst.
