Donald B. Anderson, 77, Marshfield, passed peacefully away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Donald was born on May 12, 1940 in the township of McMillan to Robert and Marion (Brock) Anderson. He attended grade school in Rozellville, Marshfield & Colby. He graduated in 1958 from Columbus Catholic High School, UW Madison Farm Short Course and Eau Claire Vocational Tech School in barbering.

He drove semi for Hub City Foods for 3 ½ years. On October 7, 1961 he married Jane M. Behselich at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. In 1961, Don and Fred Heier formed a partnership that lasted for 50 years; this included Fred & Don’s Barbershop, the Clock Shop, Beauty Boutique, and multiple rental properties. Don and Jim Trierweiler purchased and operated Cedar Gate Bar for 3 ½ years.

Don and Jane purchased a farm where they resided and operated for 32 years. Don also was an American Family Insurance agent for 42 years with offices in Marshfield and Loyal retiring in 2005.

Don and Jane built a home on the Eau Pleine Flowage where they lived for 19 years, in 2011 they moved back to Marshfield where they now reside.

After retiring Don worked for Rembs Funeral Home. Don also volunteered at the Marshfield living Center, Washington Elementary   School and was a volunteer driver for the DAV taking veterans to Madison and Tomah Hospital. Don is a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Elks and member of the American Legion.

Don has served on the OLP Church board, Wood County Farm Bureau, Wood County Holstein Breeders, select Sires Board, FFA Alumni, 4-H Leader, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and was zoning administrator for the township of Green Valley, Marathon County. Don and Jane were also foster parents.

Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, and their children, Greg (Cindy) Anderson of Chaska MN their children, Jessica (James) Hanke, great granddaughter Molly; Lauren and Coleman Anderson, Kris (Greg) Holubets of Torrance, CA, their children Connor and Morgan, and Kara (Bob) McManus of Marshfield, WI their children Courtney (KC) Hughes, Kyle, Zach, Hunter and Kade. He is further survived by his step-sister, Patricia (Norman) Erickson, Hayward, WI, step-sister-in-law Ann (Meyer) Doebler, Hendersonville, NC; step-brother-in-law, Dale Fox, Pittsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert, and mother, Marion, his step-mother, Elsie (Meyer) Anderson, step-brother, John Meyer and step-sister, Judy Fox.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, Big Brothers/Big Sister or House of the Dove.
