Auburndale, Marshfield, Stratford girls triumph

Auburndale wins Marawood opener

Auburndale outscored Wisconsin Rapids Assumption by 13 in the second half to pull out a 47-33 victory in the Marawood Conference South Division opener for both teams on Nov. 20 at Auburndale High School.

Isabelle Hilber scored 16 points and had seven rebounds, Natalie Aue added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Marissa Ponshock had eight points and nine rebounds for Auburndale (2-0 overall).

Marshfield rips Rhinelander

Marshfield shot 52 percent from the field and was plus 16 on the boards as it rolled past Rhinelander 61-25 in a nonconference game Nov. 21 at Rhinelander High School.

Hanna Meverden had 14 points and five rebounds and Jenna Jakobi scored 12 points for Marshfield (1-1), which raced out to a 40-15 lead by halftime.

The Tigers made 24 of 46 shots from the field and held a 29-13 rebounding advantage in the victory.

Stratford knocks off Edgar

Stratford broke open a tie game with a big second half and pulled past Edgar 49-34 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game at home on Nov. 20.

Kaylee Hollatz had nine of her team high 14 points in the second-half run, and Chelsey Gliniecki scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds for the Tigers (1-0 overall and Marawood South.)

The game was tied 17-17 at halftime before Stratford outscored Edgar 32-17 in the second half.

Stratford made 12 of 17 free throws in the second half to put the game away.
