Shipman lifts UW-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball past UW-Fox Valley

Marauders open season with home victory

MARSHFIELD — The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team opened its 2017-2018 campaign with a 66-50 victory over UW-Fox Valley in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday night at home.

The Marauders pulled ahead early, leading 32-24 at halftime, and held on throughout.

Emily Shipman poured in 32 points to lead the way for UW-Marshfield. She made 5 of 9 3-pointers and was 9 of 11 at the free throw line. Cinnamin Harwood added 10 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

The Marauders return to action Monday at UW-Fond du Lac.
