STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team suffered its first loss of the Central Wisconsin Conference season, falling 2-1 to Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt on Monday at the Portage County Youth Soccer Complex.

Columbus outshot Amherst 20-10 overall and 8-7 on goal but could only slip one shot past goalie Devin Toth, who had seven saves in the win.

Luke Wright scored at the 28:08 mark to put the Falcons on top before Columbus tied it 6:47 later on a Nadim Torbey goal.

The tie game did not last long as Lucas Hohn scored at the 37:05 mark to put Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt back on top, and neither team could score during the final 43 minutes.

Kellen Heinzen had five saves in goal for the Dons, who fall to 7-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the CWC. A/IS/R now pulls into sole possession of first place in the conference at 6-0-1 and improves to 8-0-2 overall.

Columbus Catholic hosts Northland Lutheran at 5 p.m. Thursday at Griese Park.
