MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield baseball team dropped a pair of games in a nonconference doubleheader against Chippewa Falls on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.

Chippewa Falls won 21-4 and 10-1. Marshfield is now 4-5, and Chippewa Falls improves to 11-3.

Paul Maguire was 3-for-3, and Braden Bohman, Logan Jakobi, and Aaron Braun each had doubles in Game 1 for Marshfield.

The Tigers had nine hits in the second game but only mustered one run: an RBI from Hunter Korger that scored Jakobi in the second inning.

Maguire and Jakobi each had two hits in Game 2.

Jared Johnsrud took the loss, giving up eight runs, only four earned, in 5 2/3 innings as the Cardinals busted open a 3-1 game with a seven-run sixth inning.

“We need to do a lot of work to be able to play with those guys,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “I saw some good things batting-wise. Defensively, we’ll just keep working at it and try to get to a higher level. We gave a good effort. We just have to clean up some things.”

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Hackman Field.
