SPENCER — The Spencer softball team swept a Cloverbelt Conference East Division doubleheader from Neillsville/Granton on Tuesday by scores of 16-3 and 7-3 to remain unbeaten in conference play and extend its winning streak to seven.

The Rockets are now 7-4 overall and 6-0 in the Cloverbelt East as they extend their overall conference win streak to 33 games dating back to the 2015 season. Neillsville/Granton is now 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Cloverbelt East.

Cinnamin Harwood and Tiffany Meinders each had three hits and scored three times in the opener for Spencer. Harwood knocked in three runs and Meinders two. One of Meinders’ hits was a home run.

Katie Fleischman added two hits and two RBIs for Spencer.

Meinders struck out six to grab the win in a five-inning effort.

In Game 2, Meinders struck out eight in a seven-inning complete game, Flesichman had two hits and two RBIs, and Courtney Buss knocked in a pair of runs for Spencer.

The Rockets led 4-3 before scoring three times in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away and complete the sweep of the twinbill.

“Credit to Neillsville for bouncing back and playing very well in the second game,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “They made big plays in clutch moments. It was good for us to be in a close game where we had to perform late in the game.”

Brianna Roehl homered in both games for the Warriors.
