APPLETON — The Marshfield boys tennis team continued its hot start to the season by taking first place at the Appleton West Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers medaled in all seven flights, which included three champions: Braedon Corteen at No. 4 singles, the No. 1 doubles team of Jared Cordova and Derek Reckner, and the No. 3 doubles team of Luke Kaiser and Ayush Shukla.

Craig Paulman at No. 3 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of John Fay and Will Fay finished second, and Evan Fait at No. 1 singles and Sam Haessly at No. 2 singles took third place.

Marshfield won the team title with 32 points, Kimberly placed second with 24, and Appleton North was third with 22.

Marshfield returns to action Thursday with a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual at home against Wisconsin Rapids. The Tigers are off to a 3-0 start in conference play.
