Spencer/Columbus football whips Rib Lake/Prentice in regular-season finale

Rockets head into playoffs at 7-2

RIB LAKE — Sophomore quarterback Jarred Mandel threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns to help the Spencer/Columbus Catholic football team to a 43-8 rout of Rib Lake/Prentice on Friday night at Rib Lake High School.

Mandel threw TD passes of 26 and 81 yards to Ethan Meece and one for 11 yards to Karak Bushman for the Rockets, who finish the regular season with a 7-2 record.

Meece finished with four catches for 119 yards, and Noah Zastrow rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns for Spencer/Columbus.

Spencer scored five touchdowns in the first half, including two from Zastrow and Mandel’s three TD throws, to take a 31-0 lead at intermission.

Zastrow and Leonardo Rodriguez added touchdown runs in the second half.

Colt Logan had a 68-yard touchdown run for the Hawks’ only score. The run accounted for one-third of Rib Lake/Prentice’s offense for the night as Spencer/Columbus outgained the Hawks 407-210.
