Marshfield boys golf second at first leg of Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield boys golf team shot a season-best 335 to finish second at the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Friday at Stevens Point Country Club.

Marshfield led after the front nine by shooting a 155 and held on to second place, finishing seven shots behind Stevens Point.

Zach Shortess led the way for the Tigers by shooting an 82, which tied for fifth place. Derek Michalski added an 83, and Brandon Nikolai and Jordan Schlinsog each had 85s for Marshfield.

Stevens Point’s Cristian McDonald shot a three-over par 75 to earn meet medalist honors.

Marshfield will compete at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday.
