The Stratford softball team dropped its first Marawood Conference South Division game of the season on Thursday to Marathon before regrouping and pounding Northland Lutheran on Friday.

Marathon defeated Stratford 6-5 on Thursday and the Tigers ripped Northland Lutheran 15-0 Friday and are now 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the Marawood South.

Stratford led 4-3 after 4½ innings against Marathon (8-3, 6-0 Marawood South after winning Friday) before the Raiders scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to chase Tigers pitcher Lorrie Luepke from the game and take a 6-4 lead.

The Tigers scored once in the top of the seventh but could not eke out the tying run.

Brittany Bredemann had two of Stratford’s seven hits and Luepke hit a solo home run in the loss.

Luepke tossed a three-inning no-hitter as the Tigers whipped Northland Lutheran on Friday. The game was halted after three innings due to Stratford leading by 15 runs at that point.

Luepke struck out three and walked one to earn the win.

Bredemann had two singles, a double and three RBIs, and Kolbeck, Jessica Schwabe, Sammy Kaiser and Macie Frueh each had two hits for the Tigers.

Stratford plays at Wausau Newman on Monday at Sunnyvale Park in Wausau.
