Posted

Roger David Luchterhand passed away at the age of 93 on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Marshfield Hospital.

On January 16, 1933, Roger was born to parents, Elmer Albert August Luchterhand and Ella August Magdelene (Krauter) Luchterhand. Roger was the third of four children, Arlene (Floyd, deceased) Updyke – deceased 2020, Marie (Gordon – deceased) Koch – deceased 2024, and Karl (Clarice) Luchterhand – deceased 2022.

Roger was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the township of McMillan.  He attended Marshfield Schools, and it was in high school where he met and fell in love with Lorraine Anita (Bercklin). They were married on July 25, 1953, at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Roger’s career took him driving truck for Pat Smith Moving Co. of Marshfield, The Milling Company of Marshfield (Prince Corporation), and then more than 30 years as a long distance semi-driver for Schneider Transport of Green Bay. He accrued more than 3 million miles without an accident. He then drove part-time for 5 years for Ryder’s Trucking in Wausau.

In 1980, Roger and Lorraine built their dream home on the Eau Pleine Flowage, where they resided for more than 25 years, enjoying fishing, boating and nature. In 2007, Roger and Lorraine built a new home and relocated to Hewitt, where they remained until Lorraine’s passing in 2020. At that time, Roger moved to the Aster Assisted Living Community. For more than 20 years, Roger and Lorraine wintered between Gulf Shore, Alabama, and Biloxi, Mississippi, and Brownsville, Texas, where they purchased a small seasonal home. Our parents enjoyed volunteering at the Eagles and making new friends.

Roger and Lorraine were blessed with three amazing daughters who survive them: Lisa (Bruce) Lampela of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and their two daughters, Taylor Lampela and Hayley Lampela both of Atlanta, Georgia; Cheryl (Jim) Marquardt of Phoenix, Arizona; and Debbie (Darrel) Casperson of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and their family, Darren Casperson (significant other, Sheila Seefeldt) of La Crosse, Wis., and his children, Ashley (fiancé, Jordan Lucas); Garrett and his children, Audrey and Avery; Mason (Melissa) and their children Foxx and Lydia, Zachary Casperson, and Jaden Casperson; Cody (Stacy) Casperson and their children, Carter (fiancée, Haylee Hopperdietzel), Aiden and Brody; Justin (Kelly) Casperson and their family, Samantha (significant other, Braxton Meyer) and Katelyn; Lance (Patti) Casperson and their family, Annalee, Willie and Ruby.  Roger is further survived by very special nephews and nieces.

There will be no funeral service at this time. Roger will be laid to rest next to his wife in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. A graveside service will be held in the coming weeks.

Special gratitude to the staff at Aster Assisted Living for the exceptional care and friendship extended to our Dad these past years. Special thank you to the staff on 8 North during Dad’s last hospitalization.

Rest now, Dad -
