TOMAHAWK — The Auburndale football team earned the win it needed to get back to the postseason.
The Apaches beat Tomahawk 24-19 on Friday night at Tomahawk High School to finish the regular season with a 4-5 record overall and a 4-4 mark in the Marawood Conference. With the victory, Auburndale qualified for the WIAA playoffs after missing out a year ago. The WIAA confirmed that the Apaches are in the Division 6 playoff field late Friday night.
The Apaches last made the postseason in 2014, where they reached Level 2 of the Division 5 playoffs before losing to Arcadia to finish the season 7-3. Their last playoff appearance before that was in 2002.
