Neillsville girls stop Colby

MARSHFIELD – In a conference showdown on Feb. 6 Neillsville took on Colby where the Warrior girls were able to stop Colby’s offense for the win.

Neillsville had a good lead at halftime of 31-22. However, the second half was a scoring show for Neillsville where they outscored the Colby girls 37-20 for the 68-42 conference win.

Leading Colby in scoring was Hailey Voelker, with almost half the teams points scored –17 – and she also pulled down 10 rebounds for her team. Emma Peavey added 13 points to the Hornet scoreboard.

Neillsville’s charge was led by Bella Opelt, with 20 points. Alli Schoengarth added 15 of her own.

Neillsville is still the top leader of the Cloverbelt conference with a 12-1 record. Colby has lost their last two conference games and is now in third place behind the Loyal team, with a 9-5 record.

Neillsville will host Spencer on Feb. 11 and Colby will host Spencer on Feb. 14.
