MARSHFIELD – The Merrill Bluejays boys basketball team hosted the Marshfield Tigers on Jan. 30 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game, where Marshfield got the win and stayed tied for first.

Marshfield had a decent lead of 29-18 at the halftime break.

In the second half, Merrill kept pace with Marshfield but couldn’t make up for the first-half scoring deficit and the game ended with Marshfield in the lead, 58-45.

Joey Goettl led Marshfield in scoring, with 19 points, and Sam Hinson added 17 points for the Tigers. Kyle Tremelling added 10 more and had nine rebounds.

Marshfield will travel to Eau Claire on Feb. 4 to face Eau Claire North for a nonconference game.
