Spiros takes primary

MASHFIELD – John Spiros, of Marshfield, has survived the primary election. The Republican from Marshfield defeated challenger Brent Jacobsen on Aug. 14 in the state Assembly’s 86th District.
The former Marshfield Alderman said his message of lower taxes resonated with the voters of the 86th district.
“Those are words that you always hear from me,” he said. “I want to make sure that we are cutting taxes, not raising taxes and doing things from the standpoint of taking care of our taxpayers. So, I think that was a big piece of it. I know when I talked to people at their doors, that resonated well with them, and I think that seeing what I have done in the state and that I do work hard for them – I think with that, that helped a great deal.”
Spiros will now face Democrat Nancy Stencil in the general election in November. Stencil was unopposed on the Democratic ticket in the Aug. 14 primary.
