WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A 23-year-old nurses’ aide at the Norwood Health Center in Marshfield appeared in Wood County Circuit Court July 2, charged with having sex with a mentally disabled patient.

A signature bond was set at $5,000 for Courtney Brockman of Marshfield. She’s charged with one felony – second-degree sexual assault of a patient – in the incident from March 23.

According to a criminal complaint, a female sheriff’s deputy needing to use the women’s bathroom in an annex near the health center discovered Brockman and the patient in a stall. The patient denied any sexual activity but later showed investigators his cell phone showing numerous communications with Brockman during February and March, indicating a sexual relationship.

Brockman told investigators she had sex with the patient in the bathroom “at least four times” within a few months.
