UW holding auditions for July performance
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – The UW-Marshfield/Wood County Theatre Department will be holding open auditions on campus for “Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays” June 11-12 at 6 p.m. in the Black Box Theater; those who are interested in auditioning only need to attend one of the two sessions and will be asked to do cold readings. Parts are available for adult males and females of various ages.
Rehearsals will begin the week of June 18 and culminate with performances July 25-29 in the Black Box Theatre.
“Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays” is a compilation of short plays, conceived by Brian Shnipper and written by several award-winning playwrights, that explores marriage from a perspective of people formerly denied this tradition in a witty, warm, courageous, and humorous fashion. The work will be presented in a rehearsed staged reading format – similar to last summer’s production of Love Letters – whereby actors will not need to completely memorize lines.
