Woman, man arrested for domestic abuse incident
Police responded at 8:58 a.m. to a report of a domestic abuse incident between a 33-year-old Marshfield woman and her husband, a 51-year-old Marshfield man. Officers investigated the matter and determined both subjects were responsible for assaulting one another.
Police arrested the man and the woman, booked them, and then released them after they posted the required bond. The subjects received minor injuries from the incident.
Sunday, Jan. 8
Marshfield man rolls vehicle while fleeing police
Police took a 20-year-old Marshfield man into custody after he rolled his vehicle while attempting to flee from officers at a high rate of speed at 3:06 a.m. The man was uninjured.
He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then to Wood County Jail. Charges of felony knowingly fleeing an officer were requested.
Man under the influence arrested for resisting officers, probation hold
Police responded at 11:26 p.m. to a report that a man was acting strangely in a store on the 100 block of N. Central Ave. and would not leave. The man also refused to leave when officers arrived, and he was resistive.
The man was on probation and, according to the police report, appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance or substances. A probation hold was placed on the man, and he was transported to the Saint Joseph’s Hospital emergency room for medical clearance and then to Wood County Jail. Charges were requested through the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Monday, Jan. 9
Scam attempt reported
A Marshfield woman reported receiving several calls between Jan. 6 and Jan. 9 from a man at a blocked number telling her that she won a Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes and that she would need to mail a $3,000 check to a Mississippi address. The woman did mail a check for $3,000 to the address, but she later realized that it was a scam and stopped payment on the check.
The woman did not lose any money but wished for the incident to be documented.
Assault victim’s vehicle stolen
Police responded at 11:50 a.m. to a report of an assault on the 300 block of W. Kalsched St. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, left the scene before officers arrived. The victim suffered injuries in the assault, and charges will be requested through the Wood County DA on the suspect.
While further investigating the incident on Jan. 10, police learned that the victim’s vehicle had been stolen. The man is a suspect for the vehicle theft as well. The vehicle was listed as stolen through Wood County Dispatch.
Tuesday, Jan. 10
Vehicle theft suspect arrested for warrant, drug possession
At 1:11 p.m. an Appleton car rental company reported that a 42-year-old Appleton woman rented a vehicle on Jan. 7 and was supposed to return it on Jan. 9 but never did. Police contacted the woman and learned that she was in Marshfield. The woman said she lent the vehicle to an acquaintance who had not yet returned it to her.
The car rental company did not want immediate action taken as the employee who reported the incident would not be able to fill out a vehicle theft form until Jan. 11.
At 5:52 p.m. on Jan. 10, police took the woman into custody on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. as she had a valid warrant through Outagamie County. During a search of the woman, police located a substance suspected to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, but booking procedures could not be completed due to a power outage. Then she was cited for retail theft and transported to Marathon County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Marathon County DA’s office.
