MARSHFIELD — 715 Delivery provides the city of Marshfield with an on-demand, restaurant-to-consumer service for expanded food delivery within the area. Owners Sharlene Bruder and Jacinta Carver are leading the way in Marshfield, the fourth of multiple markets the business has ventured into during the short time it has been in operation.
“Sharlene and I had been in the business previously with other delivery services,” said Carver. “Basically, we saw the need in the community in Wausau. There was a service there that closed, and after that happened, we knew that there was a need for it, so we decided to partner up and open together.”
“I called (Bruder) up and said, ‘Hey, we have an opportunity here. We should take it,’” said Carver.
On Oct. 1, 2015, Carver and Bruder opened 715 Delivery service in the city of Wausau, and the move has proven to be a successful one for the business.
“We right now are hitting our third-year sales projection after one year,” said Bruder. “We opened with 16 or 17 restaurants, and now we are at 33.”
Carver and Bruder partner with local businesses that provide a food service and market their offerings to the community.
“Then we partner with delivery drivers and broker the orders to them,” explained Carver. “From the customers’ standpoint, they place the order, and it comes to us. We verify the order, look it over, and send it to the restaurant. Then we give them a call to verify that the pickup time works for them and the order is correct.
“From there, we dispatch the driver. The driver is able to see the entire order and the pickup time, so they can verify as they are picking the order up.”
The entire process is done through an app that allows the driver, customer, and the business to monitor the progress of the order.
After finding steady growth in Wausau, the company expanded into Merrill and later Stevens Point before venturing into the Marshfield market in the fall of 2016.
Carver and Bruder spent a month meeting with Marshfield restaurants and established partnerships with eight local businesses before beginning delivery.
Today 715 Delivery administers services to After Hours, Bakerville Sports Bar & Grill, Belvedere Supper Club, Bigby Coffee, Baltus Bread & Butter Shop 1502, Chips, Lammar’s Smokehouse BBQ, Lumberyard Bar & Grill, Papagalos, Subway, and Taqueria El Sol in Marshfield and C & M Crossroads Trattoria in Rozellville.
Though 715 Delivery has found a solid base in the Marshfield community, it still finds the undertaking somewhat challenging.
“With Marshfield it’s a different community than the other three markets that have had some type of restaurant delivery service,” added Bruder. “The average person was already inclined to an on-demand service. Marshfield, no, the restaurants aren’t familiar with it. The customers aren’t familiar with it. So when we came here, it has been and will continue to be an educational process for both the restaurants and the customers.
“There is definitely a need for it. We’ve had steady growth here in Marshfield.”
715 Delivery provides service within 12 miles of the client restaurants. The delivery fee is $2.99 plus 50 cents per mile. In addition, 715 Delivery offers a rewards program that credits customers for each dollar spent. Points may be redeemed for gift cards within the program.
