Marshfield girls tennis drops WVC match at Wausau East

WAUSAU — Wausau East won five of the seven matches, losing just 14 games in those, and defeated Marshfield 5-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis dual meet Tuesday at East High School.

Marshfield’s wins came from McKensey Koran at No. 4 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Hanah Gadke and Ashley Schultz.

Koran beat Leah Blaskowski 6-3, 6-1, and the team of Gadke and Schultz defeated Libby McDonald and Julia Reising 6-1, 6-2.

Marshfield falls to 2-3 in the Valley, and East is now 3-1. The Tigers host Wausau West at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Singles: 1. Sami Miles (WE) and Haley Hauck 6-0, 6-0; 2. Savannah Carroll (WE) def. Dara Stichert 6-4, 6-1; 3. Sara Glinecki (WE) def. Jebina Devadas 6-0, 6-4; 4. McKensey Koran (M) def. Leah Blaskowski 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles: 1. Hanah Gadke-Ashley Schultz (M) def. Libby McDonald-Julia Reising 6-1, 6-2; 2. Chloe Westberg-Quinn Lodholtz (WE) def. Tylene Dierickx-Alexis Means 6-0, 6-4; 3. Allie Rief-Benna Steigl (WE) def. Olivia Devadas-Kacy Wesolowski 6-0, 6-1.

Records: Marshfield 2-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference; Wausau East 3-1 WVC.
