Tigers finish season with 15-13 record

HUDSON — The Marshfield softball team’s postseason run came to a halt with an extra-inning defeat on Tuesday.

Alyssa Stich hit a home run with two outs in the bottom of eighth inning to lift Hudson to a 2-1 victory over Marshfield in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal at Grandview Park.

Marshfield pitcher Megan Donahue was rolling along, allowing just three hits and one run in 7 2/3 innings with 17 strikeouts before Stich won it with the walk-off bomb.

Marshfield (15-13) scored in the top of the first inning on an RBI double by Lexi Dupee that scored Emily Draeger. That was all the Tigers could muster against Hudson pitchers Katie Cardell and Jordan Little.

Cardell left in the fourth after giving up six hits and two walks, and Little entered and struck out 11 in 4 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Hudson (19-7) moves on to a sectional final against Stevens Point (25-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. The winner advances to the 2016 WIAA State Softball Tournament in Madison on June 9-11.
