Food for America program heading to Norm-E-Lane Farms

Area elementary students will participate in agricultural learning experience

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Future Farmers of America (FFA), along with the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry and BMO Harris Bank, will be hosting the annual Food for America program on May 11 at the Norm-E-Lane Farms in Chili.

About 500 fourth- and fifth-graders from the Marshfield public and private schools, Pittsville, and Auburndale will tour the 2,400-cow dairy farm. Approximately 50 Marshfield FFA members will be presenting at 16 stations that include lessons on manure management, farm equipment, sheep and hog management, milking cows, feeding, housing, calving, pasteurizing milk, raising calves, raising llamas, horse safety, ag olympics, wetland habitat, wildlife management, soil conservation, and forest management.

The program will start at 9:30 a.m. and last until 2 p.m.
