Food for Thought to raise funds for University Foundation
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — Food for Thought 2016 will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 6-9 p.m. at UW-Marshfield/Wood County. This annual fundraising event for the University Foundation has brought together fabulous food, magnificent entertainment, spectacular auction items, and hundreds of campus friends every year for the past 15 years.
The University Foundation helps support the activities of UW-Marshfield/Wood County. Proceeds from the event fund scholarships for students and professional development for faculty and staff.
Food for Thought features a variety of appetizers, soups, entrees, and desserts prepared and donated by local volunteer chefs.
“The event allows us to highlight the talent of home chefs while supporting education in our community,” said Marsha Oberg, chef coordinator. Attendees can nibble their way through a bounty of food stations to sample cuisines from around the world. “There is something for everyone, and nobody will go away hungry,” Oberg added.
Throughout the evening guests can also bid in the silent auction or take part in basket raffles. More than 40 unique items and baskets have been donated by businesses and individuals in the community.
This year’s entertainment includes Main Street Conservatory of Dance Jazz Company from 6:30-7 p.m. and Beatles tribute band The Britins from 7-9 p.m.
“The Britins were a huge hit at Food for Thought in 2015, and we’re thrilled they are able to join us again this year,” said Roxie Wetterau, foundation director and event coordinator.
General admission is $35 in advance or $40 at the door, which includes a tax-deductible donation. Register online at marshfield.uwc.edu/food-for-thought, or call 715-384-1703 to make reservations. Food for Thought is generously sponsored by Nelson-Jameson Inc.
