MARSHFIELD — A driver fled police and crashed into Mall Furniture in Marshfield on Sunday morning around 3:20 a.m.

Officers on patrol were attempting to make a traffic stop near Eighth Street and Peach Avenue when the driver fled and briefly eluded police.

“A short time later the vehicle was found crashed into the building of Mall Furniture,” according to a report from the Marshfield Police Department.

The driver and passenger were both taken to the emergency room with injuries.

“The driver was arrested for operating while under the influence, causing injury,” the report said. Police will be contacted when the driver is released, and they will send a request for charges for felony fleeing to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.

This story will be updated when more details become available.
