MARSHFIELD — Charges of theft and misconduct in public office are being sought against the Town Treasurer of Green Grove, Sandra H. Fritz, according to a release from the Clark County Sheriff’s office.

On April 15 of this year, the Town Chairman of Green Grove reported to the Clark County Sheriff’s office that there were some irregularities in the town’s finances. After a recent audit of the township’s finances was performed it was uncovered that about $24,600 was missing since 2013. The release says that the 75-year-old Fritz allegedly left a voicemail for the town clerk asking her not to report the missing money and that Fritz would pay it back.

Fritz allegedly admitted taking the money from a town savings account without town board approval, according to the release.  It is also alleged that Fritz said that she made at least 17 cash withdrawals and used the money for living expenses.
