ESCANABA, Mich. – The Marshfield softball team went 1-2 at the Escanaba Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers lost 1-0 to Marquette (Mich.) and 12-2 to Escanaba (Mich.) before routing Kingsford (Mich.) 18-9.

Megan Donahue was the tough-luck loser for the Tigers against Marquette. She struck out 10, walked only one and gave up just three hits. Marquette scored the game’s only run in the top of the seventh as the result of an error.

Emily Draeger was 2-for-3 with a double for the Tigers, who only had four hits.

Marshfield committed six errors in the loss to Escanaba. Donahue struck out six in the loss.

The Tigers finally got the bats going in the third game, pounding out 20 hits against Kingston.

Marshfield trailed 6-1 after 2½ innings before scoring eight times in the third inning. The Tigers added nine more runs over the final three innings.

Draeger had two singles, two doubles, two RBIs and scored four times, Lexi Dupee had four hits, including three doubles, and two RBIs; and Morgan Nordbeck had a pair of doubles and four RBIs for Marshfield.

Kaitlyn Konrardy earned the win with three innings of relief.

The Tigers (9-11) return to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Tuesday at home against D.C. Everest. The game starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgounds.
